Next step...the steel box is deliverd

My container arrived this morning at 8am. A huge side loader placed the box on 4 concrete blocks. A strange feeling as closer the day x is coming. But now I can start to stuff my boxes. It's going forward ;-)

The first box is already stored ;-)

Today at lunch-time I was at Contargo in Wörth near Karlsruhe, Germany. After Düsseldorf, Germany they are the largest inner harbor of Germany.
And this is mine box.... huge, dark red, a bit rusty but mine.... :-) The middle one.
With this shopping tour I'm a huge step closer to New Zealand. Next week is the delivery at Marc's place. Then I can start packing and stuffing boxes....

winter hiking in oktober

3 days weekends are rare. Thanks to the German unity day ;-) Planned was a hiking trip with some friends in Oberstdorf. 1st day ascend to "fiderepass Hütte". 2nd day the fixed rope route "Mindelheimer Klettersteig" and the 3rd day back to the valley.

So I started together with Wiebke and Achim on Friday with rain. around 1200m attitude the rain changed to snow. When arriving at "fiderepass Hütte" (2067m) a small mountain shelter we walked in knee deep snow.

The Next morning was Grey. 50m view and more snow (around 60cm). The fixed rope route was already canceled. We discussed the alternative route. But even this one was to risky. So we spend the day inhouse with reading, playing card and eating ;-)
Sunday was supposed to be a nice day. And it was! green valleys, snowy mountains and blue, clear sky! Walking 3 peaks (Kanzelwand, Fellhorn and Söllerkopf) in knee deep powder snow.

Are they trying to take us for a fool?

This article I found in our local newspaper.
"Despaired this man is adhering to a pole in Becliff, Texas: Hurricane 'Ike' has caused serious destruction at the Texas coast line."

When he is adhering that serious, why is his shirt so sag, why are the trees in the background standing quit still and how is the photographer secured??
When the wind is blowing that strong, why he uses just one hand to hold? The second hand is pushing into his side?!? It's looking like he pushes up his body into this pose. Don't you think?

Puhh 11 hours to Tokyo and 14 hours from Tokyo to Auckland....quit a long journey to the other side of the world. But with Valentin and Stef, I guess the time will run on the plane :-) looking forward, but some strange feelings coming up as well.

....more hotel...

...than hospital.

after my shoulder operation I feel very good. No pain, good food and nice or better to beautiful nurses :-) In a enviroment like this it is easy to recover. This private owned hospital is more hotel. Yesterday we ordered cafe which is very tasty and the meals are all freshed cooked. Brake fast we had 2 biscuits, an egg, orange juice and fresh fruits. Premiere TV and W-LAN are included :-D
Until Friday I can use this luxury and comfort...

The next 3 weeks I have to carry my arm in a sling; 12 weeks no sport, don't know how to survive this. :-/

Finaly I made it to select the best RodTrip Pic's

In March I visited Daniel and Katrin in the US. I flew over to Michigan stood there for around a week. Made a trip to Chicago and had some lovely day with them.
The second week we picked up Katrin in Vegas an drove up to Lake Tahoe. Area 51 on the left side, Death Valley around us. In and under the huge trees in Yosemite National Park, snowy beaches at Lake Tahoe and some old Casinos in Carson City and Rino. In between we passed some of the most beautiful sceneries I've ever seen.

Thanks to Katrin and Daniel for this brilliant organisation and perfect guiding ;-)

Alive...

Hey, after 4 Days between bed, sofa and hammock am I back :-) My tooth infected my ear. After 1000 mg Antibiotics each day and a lot of pain I quit fit. It is a pity, we've got blue sky and sunshine all day. around 20 degrees Celsius. A perfect weather for a nice trekking tour. Shit ear!! a hole 4 day weekend and not able to do anything than sitting around.

Finally I was able to try my jerky beef. Not to bad at all. The herbs style is very good. Not to dry and tasty. Maybe a bit too much coriander. The BBQ style is very hard and dry. The taste is ok. Let's have a look how long I can store it :-)

My Jerky Beef is finished

Cool, it's dry. But I cannot taste it so far :-(

The last to weeks I often had a painful ear. So I went yesterday to the dentist. Because the pain was different to my normal ear-pain. He was a surprised, that I just felt a bit pain. My tooth was angry. So he pulled him out :-/ And with this wound I was so far just able to "eat" mashed potatoes. So I'll try it on Monday I guess.

Have a nice Weekend...

The second try to make jerky beef

This time with a dry herbs marinade and some others with a bull eye's marinade.

Let's have a look how it's going. We'll see in 24 hours. I will keep you informed ;-)

Do you know my black box? It is just a wooden box as you see :-) At the bottom is a small fan heater like your female assistant got one under her desk :-) The temperature is keep around 34°C (93°F). You'll get the best results in a room with a low air humidity and the fan is working all the time. Therefor I will expand with two extra fans. a later project :-)

In this box you can dry fruits, vegetables, meat, herbs and tea.
I use it quit a lot to dry apples and mangos as well as honey melon. Strawberries are very tasteful, but a lot of work for a small pack. They shrink to nearly ten times.
The best about drying is, that you can keep your products up to 4 years. I already tired it with bananas.
Meat is a bit more difficult to store. It depends as well on the marinade. My last try started running by it's own 2 weeks later. covered in a green coat *brrr*

Thumbs up and hope for the best ;-)

Final match Underwaterrugby 1. German League

Fotographer: Oliver Meckes

This Sunday the German Unterwaterrugby League met in Stuttgart for the last matches in this season. My team Tauchclub Stuttgart1 played hard to fight for the 3rd place.
The fist match against Munich ended 1:1. In the fist 15 minutes the Bavarians scored after a counterattack. In the second half, your youngster Matze tied the score. Not as easy as accepted but better then lost :-/
The secound fight against Bamberg, the current Germany Champion, was much harder. The final result of 0:3 isn't too bad. The Match was brilliant. Fast, hard but fair as we like it.
The all over results for the German South League is as followed:

1 TC Bamberg
2 TSV Malsch
3 TC Stuttgart
4 STC München
5 TC Submarin Pößneck
6 TC Heilbronn I
7 DUC Darmstadt

With this results we are going to the German Championship. *juhuu* :-)

funny date view in WinXP Explorer

  • Change your system time to a year far in the future. Like 2045
  • create a new file in any folder
  • set your system time back to today
  • browse to the folder where you created the file, sort the files by date, change View --> Arrange by Icons --> Show in Groups
  • lol

The other way around...just set your date to 1980 and follow the step's like before.
